He had a guest on yesterday morning and asked about the
hiring of Zorn, a guy with no HC or OC experience -
anywhere. I forget the guest's name, but he was some
sports writer that covers the NFL, maybe Don Banks of
SI.com, but I'm not 100 percent sure on that.
The point that was made was, why hire a guy who wasn't
even going to be the OC for his current team? The
Seahawks weren't going to make Zorn the OC when Jim
Mora took over in '09, so how do the Skins make the
jump from a first-time OC to a first-time HC? Add to
that, Zorn has never called a time out, never called a
play, and he's 54!? This isn't a up and coming young
guy like Spagnuolo or Garrett.
I hope I'm wrong and Zorn shocked the world, but I
remain, as always, skeptical. The positive that I'm
hearing about Zorn is that he is a meticulous planner
and is always ready.
I think you've pointed it out before, but the big
question is how much leash will Danny Boy give Zorn? We
shall see.
