Can anyone recommend a good independent health coverage?

Can anyone recommend a good individual health insurance coverage where the premium isn’t too bad? My husband and I are thinking of moving out of state, but the healthcare we currently have is through my work. It’s a great coverage, but the COBRA will be $428 per person. While we don’t want to be without coverage, we’d rather have something cheaper than $856 per month. My husband has his own online business, so he won’t have a coverage for us to keep. I’ll look for work when we move so that we can get healthcare again, but until that time we’d want some type of coverage.
We don’t mind bigger out-of-pocket costs for routine doctor visits, but we would want something that would cover an unexpected surgery, etc. I’ve heard of small businesses joining and sharing healthcare plans as a group coverage, but I’m not sure about how that works. I’m not even sure if it’s true for that matter.
If there are any small business owners that can give some advice, we’d love to hear about it.
We are planning to move to FL. We are currently in NC, but we are fine here since I have health care through my job.
I have a friend who is a insurance broker and he can help you find the best plan and the lowest rate. If you’d like his information, feel free to email me at kaiden4@aol.com

YOu didnt mention where you live but check out Tonik https://www.tonikhealth.com/ its a program of Blue Shield marketed for young adults at very reasonable prices.
Or call an insurance broker who deals with health insurance. Its free to you to have them do some price comparisons for you. They should be able to find you a good price.

Joy,
You’ll probably be better off with the Cobra coverage. Even though you’re only looking for bridge coverage until you find a new job, any potential private insurance is going to look at your existing health care needs and either charge you huge premiums or deny you outright. If your husband can get coverage through a local small business network, that would also be a better option, but like you, I wouldn’t know how to go about that.
Be careful with the Cobra, though. Since you’d be leaving your job voluntarily, you will only be eligible for 18 months coverage. (Involuntary termination qualifies for 36 months.)
