Does Obama believe savings can be found in healthcare once government is the ultimate decider on your coverage?

September 82009

Read Obama’s disturbing words in this NY Times interview from last April:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/03/magazine/03Obama-t.html?_r=3&partner=rss&emc=rss&pagewanted=all
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Obama: The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.
Leonhardt: So how do you–how do we deal with it?
Obama: Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. It’s not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And that’s part of what I suspect you’ll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now.
(He seems to be taking talking points from Ezekiel Emanuel and Science Czar John Holdren.)
………………..
What makes this all the more sickening is that Democrats are feverishly pushing for a return to the death tax rates we had before Bush got into power which means that the goverment has an interest in seeing rich people die faster so that the government get 55% of their possessions including money. This 55% rate will go back into effect in January of 2011.
Gov’t & savings is an oxymoron.
Should Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California switch political parties…Would it matter to the voters?
August 312009
Schwarzenegger Mulled Leaving GOP
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and several advisers a few months ago discussed whether he should follow the move of his friend Michael Bloomberg, the New York City mayor who left the Republican Party to become an independent.
But in the end, Schwarzenegger and crew decided that Californians already saw him as independent of the GOP, and there would be no point in a switch, according to Schwarzenegger biographer Joe Mathews, author of “The People’s Machine: Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Rise of Blockbuster Democracy.”
The governor’s recent battle with GOP lawmakers over efforts to balance the budget, and his criticism of Republicans who opposed President Barack Obama’s stimulus package, are only the most recent examples of Arnold’s alienation from mainstream Republicans:
When he served as President George H.W. Bush’s fitness czar, Schwarzenegger was critical of the administration’s education policy, Mathews reported on The Daily Beast
Web site.
In 1998, Schwarzenegger publicly criticized the Republican Party for leading the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
Schwarzenegger was a tepid supporter of George W. Bush in 2004, and agreed only at the last minute to deliver a speech at the GOP convention, according to Mathews. And he made only one appearance with Bush during the campaign. Four years later, Schwarzenegger skipped the GOP convention altogether.
As governor, Schwarzenegger has appointed about the same number of Democrats as Republicans to state offices, and his vow in his second inaugural address to govern as a “post-partisan” angered some Republicans who had worked for his re-election.
Republicans, for their part, have routinely opposed Schwarzenegger’s budgets, torpedoed his effort to establish universal health coverage in the state, and fought Schwarzenegger initiatives on prisons, water, the environment, and infrastructure investment.
no it wouldn’t matter much, it would just hurt his fund raising, which is really everything, i hate partisanship and am happy when anybody becomes independent
Would the American people support this type of health reform?
August 292009
With the socialist moving government plan getting no real support from the public, how about this type of gov involvment with reform. I would propose that the gov remains out of running healthcare but to step in and make sure that the people are being treated fairly when complaints are filed and that all lawsuits claimed in malpractice have an independent panel investigate the body of the lawsuit to judge whether or not the lawsuit can go forward to a court of law. I would ask that law makers vote into law that a lawsuit compensation be limited and not a ridiculous amount to be awarded. I would put a 3 year time frame on the amount that insurance companies can charge for coverage, after that I would consider it price gouging. With lawsuits stemmed, the need to charge so much for health care will be removed, therefore the cost should be passed on to the consumer. The same will go for insurance companies that cover doctors. With lawsuits stemmed, the insurance that Dr.s carry will not need to be so exspensive so that the Dr. side of the cost will be able to drop. Therefore, those insurance companies will also have a 3 year time frame to drop their costs before a price gouging lawsuit be brought against them. What to charge for healthcare? Thats up to the insurance companies. The average cost per month is going to have to be worked out but I am paying $130 a month for coverage of me and my wife which seems fair to me. As far as those with no coverage, there will be coverage available. How it works is as follows. A family of four for example that has both parents on unemployment would have coverage by doing public service to pay for that coverage. Either the whole family(child labor laws apply) or one member performs public duty such as highway clean up, parks and recreation work, volunteer work such as red cross or salvation army, disaster relief etc. The period of one month of public service at 40hrs a week would be equivalent to two months of healthcare coverage per person. Therefore, if the family of four are to be covered, four months of public service is required to cover all four for two months. Or 6 months of service could be done to cover one person for a year. Now, those who are handicapped or cant work will be covered under the medicare, medicaid act. All government employees will be required to recieve their health care at military bases, the same as our military members. Also, the gov employees will be required to pay an extra 1.5% in tax to help pay for the medicaid, medicare programs. I am sure I am missing some stuff but what do you think so far?
I highly doubt if you become completely vegetated that you would only be awarded 20K. And, if it happens you are then under the SS, Medicare system.
And why is making people work for the healthcare servitude? If you are on unemployment and are capable of working, why not? Why does everyone have to be given stuff? whats wrong with earning it?
In some aspects yes it is similiar except that the excessive amounts of money that all sides are expected to come up with would be curbed allowing the price to drop and become affordable for everyone to get care.
I wouldn’t support your plan.
I do support tort reform, but that is a separate issue.
