Can Obama do anything but lie?

August 212009

Fighting false health care claims, Obama repeats one of his own

By Steven Thomma | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama participated in a scripted online discussion of his health care overhaul with a friendly audience of religious voters and pastors Wednesday. It ended with him bemoaning those who bear "false witness" against his plans — and then making a claim of his own that’s been widely shown to be false.

"There’s been a lot of misinformation," Obama said, complaining about people who are "bearing false witness."

He said the first thing he wanted to correct was the idea that the proposed overhaul would force some people into different health care plans. "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan," he said, repeating one of his stock lines.

That’s not true, however, according to FactCheck.org, an independent truth squad run by the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

"He can’t make that promise to everyone," concluded FactCheck’s analysis, one of several that point out that the Democrats’ health care plan could lead to employers switching plans, and thus forcing their employees into different plans and perhaps to different doctors.

"Under the House bill," FactCheck said, "some employers might have to modify plans after a five-year grace period if they don’t meet minimum benefits standards.

"Furthermore, some firms are likely to buy different coverage for their workers than they have now, or simply drop coverage and pay a penalty instead, leaving workers to buy their own private coverage or go on a new federal insurance plan."

He is a lib extremest, of course he is going to lie.

Reason or Mob Mentality?

August 192009

Today’s information can be obtain with the push of a button almost immediately. With so much information at our finger tips, how are we to decide what is true and what isn’t? While some may argue that news coverage is unbiased, I’d say it is now more than ever very slanted towards radical views of the far right. I consider myself to be a reasonable, independent American citizen, concerned with the state of our country at large. We have many national issues that severely need attention. Health care, the state of our young concerning education, the economy and lack of morally ethical business leaders who ship jobs off quicker than a duck mating. If we have learned anything from the last eight years it’s this; we the people can not put all of our trust in the hand of the bums in Washington to solve our problems. There are too busy lining the coats with money from corporations. Here’s my question: Have we really become a blinded bunch of people with mob mentality toward picking who should run our country, or is there hope that some us may actually use some reason to pick a person well suited to be the next president of the USA? I’m interested in your opinions.

I think it may be a combination of mob mentallity & laziness. People don’t seem to do any research when it comes to the big desicions. They would rather be able to blame someone else for giving them the wrong informtion, then doing the research themselves to find the truth. Look at the media. You have all kinds of so called "experts" saying who THEY think is winning or who is right for this country. But the media is far from being "unbiased" Just look at FOX. They are run by people who have their own agenda and that rarely helps the majority of this nation.

Health Care Forum Aftermath – Cincinnati Ohio – August 3, 2009

August 192009

August 3, 2009

This footage is following the Health Care Reform Forum with Congressman Steve Driehaus (D-OH).

During the forum, the crowd (which had a large percentage of tea-party conservatives) constantly interrupted Driehaus and shouted over his remarks and his answers to the questions that were asked. Following the forum, there were chants both inside the church and outside of “Vote for Chabot!” which is a reference to politician Steve Chabot whom Driehaus defeated in 2008 and who he will again face in 2010.

Will CBO officials end up like Vince Foster?

August 172009

The OMB-CBO throwdown

The White House went to war with the Congressional Budget Office after Friday’s announcement that the proposed changes to Barack Obama’s health-care plan to realize big cost savings would only recover $2 billion over 10 years, at best — about 0.2% of ObamaCare’s lowest projected cost. Budget director Peter Orszag published a statement yesterday that accused the CBO of essentially lying in its analysis:
The Obama administration is touting a proposal to give a medical advisory council the power to help decide the scope of coverage that would be eligible for reimbursement under Medicare.
Administration officials say the proposed “Independent Medicare Advisory Council” would both improve health care quality and control costs. Some health care industry groups object to the proposal, saying such a council would not be qualified to make those judgments.
The CBO’s review of the proposal found that “the probability is high that no savings would be realized … but there is also a chance that substantial savings might be realized,” Elmendorf wrote.
“Looking beyond the 10-year-budget window, CBO expects that this proposal would generate larger but still modest savings on the same probabilistic basis.” …
White House Budget Director Peter Orszag said the CBO’s analysis — which it relayed to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Saturday — could feed a perception of the office’s bias toward “exaggerating costs and underestimating savings.”

Have you done your research?

August 152009

Are you intelligent enough to care and spend the time it takes to research the person you’re voting for? Or do you just go running to the ballot with the lines that are spoon-fed to you from the candidates?

Here is some information for you to think about before election day. If you are of voting age and would like to post a comment with your opinion, great. If you are not of voting age, then I don’t even care to hear from you because your opinions don’t matter to anyone but your parents.

I know I’m going to get some smart-a** comments here, and I know who their going to come from. But that’s alright, because if you leave anything but a well thought out comment here, after looking at the info I provide, it will just be a reflection of your own intelligence level, and if that’s okay with you…it’s okay with me.

Excerpt:

Many small-business owners pay taxes on their business income as individuals, and if they are successful and employing people, they will pay higher taxes under Obama. This would be a tax on job creation, at the worst possible time.

Where Obama’s 95 percent promise is fundamentally dishonest is in how it discounts the effect of his health-care plan. Obama would require businesses to cover their workers or pay a tax. If the tax is relatively low, employers will choose to dump their employees into Obama’s new public program, making a hash of his talking point that no one will lose his current coverage under the plan. If the tax is high, employers will provide coverage themselves, but will inevitably fund it by paying less in wages or hiring less. Obama is proposing a large new tax on employment.

McCain’s health plan, in contrast, would amount to a $1.3 trillion tax cut, according to the Tax Policy Center. McCain would tax employer-provided health benefits for the first time, but offset that with a $5,000 tax credit per couple for all health-insurance purchases. Independent analysts say most taxpayers would be better off.

Another:

The Tax Foundation estimates that under the Obama plan 63 million Americans, or 44% of all tax filers, would have no income tax liability and most of those would get a check from the IRS each year. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS.

The total annual expenditures on refundable "tax credits" would rise over the next 10 years by $647 billion to $1.054 trillion, according to the Tax Policy Center. This means that the tax-credit welfare state would soon cost four times actual cash welfare. There’s another catch: Because Mr. Obama’s tax credits are phased out as incomes rise, they impose a huge "marginal" tax rate increase on low-income workers. The marginal tax rate refers to the rate on the next dollar of income earned. As the nearby chart illustrates, the marginal rate for millions of low- and middle-income workers would spike as they earn more income.

The reason I chose this topic, as opposed to another for the candidate, is because it seems to be one of the main reasons people are voting for him.

When you hear his "tax cut" claims, ask yourself one important question…"What does he mean?" And then go find out. You’ll be surprised how words can be used to create illusions for people.

It’s amazing.

yes i have done the research and you have omitted important parts that will raise it for middle class even more…

however i wish you luck.. honestly most of the people voting for obama believe the only thing Clinton ever did wrong was get a hummer in the oval office…

they believe the liberal alphabet networks and will not examine or listen to facts.

Did Obama wow you last night? ?

August 132009

Well hopefully your eyes were opened to his deceitfulness:

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

Obama’s assertion that "I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don’t work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are — beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn’t tell them:

THE SPIN: "That’s why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs for the typical family by $2,500 a year."

THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by $2,500, or any set amount. Obama hopes that by spending $50 billion over five years on electronic medical records and by improving access to proven disease management programs, among other steps, consumers will end up saving money. He uses an optimistic analysis to suggest cost reductions in national health care spending could amount to the equivalent of $2,500 for a family of four. Many economists are skeptical those savings can be achieved, but even if they are, it’s not a certainty that every dollar would be passed on to consumers in the form of lower premiums.

___

THE SPIN: "I also believe every American has a right to affordable health care."

THE FACTS: That belief should not be confused with a guarantee of health coverage for all. He makes no such promise. Obama hinted as much in the ad when he said about the problem of the uninsured: "I want to start doing something about it." He would mandate coverage for children but not adults. His program is aimed at making insurance more affordable by offering the choice of government-subsidized coverage similar to that in a plan for federal employees and other steps, including requiring larger employers to share costs of insuring workers.

___

THE SPIN: "I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost."

THE FACTS: Independent analysts say both Obama and Republican John McCain would deepen the deficit. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Obama’s policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years — and that analysis accepts the savings he claims from spending cuts. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, whose other findings have been quoted approvingly by the Obama campaign, says: "Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next 10 years." The analysis goes on to say: "Neither candidate’s plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified."

___

THE SPIN: "Here’s what I’ll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than $200,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the U.S. over the next two years and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Help homeowners who are making a good faith effort to pay their mortgages, by freezing foreclosures for 90 days. And just like after 9-11, we’ll provide low-cost loans to help small businesses pay their workers and keep their doors open. "

THE FACTS: His proposals — the tax cuts, the low-cost loans, the $15 billion a year he promises for alternative energy, and more — cost money, and the country could be facing a record $1 trillion deficit next year. Indeed, Obama recently acknowledged — although not in his commercial — that: "The next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals."

The truth is not of interest to his people.

that’s the only reason he’s as far as he is now.

Did anyone see Barack Obama’s 30 minute presentation on television Wednesday night? ?

August 112009

I don’t have cable so I was not able to see it, but the Associated Press article had the following to say about it.

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

Laura – Obama’s speech became meaningless when he entered Wright’s church and stayed there for 20 years listening to "Black Liberation theology" which is a twisted perversion of the Christian gospel and is heavily racist to the point of wanting to see white people exterminated.

Obama was born to a Muslim father, he had a Muslim grandfather, he was raised
by a Muslim step father, taught as a boy in a Muslim school, tutored by a man who was a sexual pervert and socialist during his early boyhood, attended the church Wright pastored which had many Muslim members, has been praised by Quaddafi and Hamas – Muslim terrorists,
and in an absent-minded moment on tv slipped and said "My Muslim faith."

His friends are terrorists and leaders who hate our nation and want her destroyed from without and within. He has not proven his citizenship, and his biggest campaign issue centered around race. He has promised that his future plans are heavily racial in purpose.

Christian? Never!
Obama voted 4 times against letting a baby receive medical attention if that baby survived an abortion. Fannie and Freddie paid him more than everyone but Chris Dodd and 39 times more than McCain. I believe McCain received a token payment to cover their tracks, and the big three; Dodd, Obama and Kerry were paid to keep their mouths shut or to continue their refusal to vote with Bush
regulate them. Obama has NEVER at any time declared he loves America, but has called our troops terrorists and has downgraded our Constitution. He has lied so many times about so many things
that it is hard to believe he means any of the things he says. He has vacillated on numerous issues, and has never instituted any legislation in his one year that he actually showed up for work in Illinois. He has can speak eloquently about nothing and people look beyond his lack of knowledge and experience like they are in a hypnotic trance. He is a fraud, and unworthy of the respect of any thinking person.

I thought it was hilarious, personally. He didn’t give many more details than what we already knew.

He wants to cut spending, but then he blows 125 million for 30 minutes of TV time?
